How the footing calculation works
The calculator converts width and depth from inches to canonical meters, then multiplies total length × width × depth using the shared rectangular-prism geometry. The raw volume is displayed in cubic yards, cubic feet, and cubic meters.

For dimensions supplied by the user, the calculator treats the footing as a rectangular prism:
raw volume = total footing length × footing width × footing depth
Width and depth entered in inches are normalized through the shared SI unit layer before the shared rectangular-prism function executes. The exact raw volume is retained in cubic meters and converted for display to cubic feet and cubic yards. One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet.
Unit reference
